- HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor.
- For patients with hyperlipidemia – as an addition to diet to reduce elevated total-cholesterol, LDL-C, Apo B, and TG in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or mixed hyperlipidemia. Also raises HDL-C and therefore lowers the LDL/HDL and total cholesterol/HDL ratios.
- For patients with coronary heart disease or diabetes – along with a healthy diet, significantly reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke, reduce coronary death, and slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis.
